The storage movers came, my room is empty, and I’m on my way to the airport. I’m also writing my last final.
It has truly been a pleasure writing this blog and I hope to continue in the fall with more secrets, tips, and tricks. Thank you to everyone who reads even if they don’t have a tumblr, who asks me questions (that occasionally stump me), and who comments. One last thing for the seniors: If you haven’t had a meltdown in Blanchard, you haven’t lived.
Have a fantastic summer and be sure to eat as many home-cooked meals as possible. I’m serious.

schou22m asked: Do you know anything about the nutrition information about the tortillas that they use or what size they are? Are they included in the calorie information of the chef website?

Calorie info is not on the website but the flatbread nutrition information sits on the Deli Counter when they are available. As for the other wraps, Mike has personally told me that the giant ones are more like in the 700 range. Yikes. A lavash is considerably less at around 150. If you have any further questions or concerns you could email Mark Garner at mgarner@mtholyoke.edu. I am told he handles requests, ideas, etc. for dining services.

I learn something new everyday. But I know everything there is to know about Blanchard. Duh.

The sundial on the south side of Mary Woolley Hall. I’ve been looking at that wall for a semester now, and only noticed this a few days ago.

looksnow asked: Have you had the deli special this week? It is good, but the bread is deceptively not crunchy. I asked if I could get the chef to put it in the oven to toast it and she was very adamant in saying no. I don't see any reason why they can't do it, I've gotten sandwiches made on garlic bread before and they put grinders int the oven all the time! Probably one of the biggest letdowns I've suffered in Blanch all semester.

BUMMER. That is weird since they reheat stuff on the grill for me all the time and if something is undercooked when your name is called, they can always put back on for a few more minutes.

I will say that they are very strict with their rules in terms of what they can and can’t do. I once asked someone at the Deli if he could make me a Honey Monkey with an apple sliced up instead of a banana. It did not happen because my request was against “menu protocol.” I kid you not.

I can’t tell if ZICO water is actually terminating BodyArmour or what, but students are definitely drinking it. ZICO now occupies a few more slots in the refrigerator and comes in the box version. It’s the color and texture of the bottle that is really the most redeeming quality of the whole experience. But whatever.

What I really want to know is: what is this obsession with coconut water? Alex says it’s the “gatorade of Mother Nature.” Hmmm, okay. But, where does it come from? Because maybe we should just all move there.

Madonna has her priorities in order.

Post-exam mental breakdown at the Deli.

Chef on duty told me “everything will be okay.” And also, when referring to the possibility of my failing: “There’s first time for everything.” #BlanchardProblems

I’ve got five swiftly sharpened number #2 pencils all set for tonight. I’m always prepared.

Reading Days: A Few Highlights

Exams are just about here. You are tired. I am tired. But let’s try to get through this. Then go home. And lay by the pool. And tan.

Caffeine is paramount. Try Redbull.

Everyone knows you get the best energy fix from carbo-loading. I suggest trying this out at Blanchard - where it is safe to say that this cafe knows no limit to the variety of carbs being served on a daily basis. Pasta at the Culinary Station. Also: Thai noodle salad randomly sitting in the grab&go refrigerator today. Get on that.

SNACKS! Baked Lays, Peanuts, Chips Ahoy!, Beef Jerky, those scrumptious Fig Newton crispy things that aren’t actually Fig Newtons - they are like berry flavored or something, Grandma peanut butter cookies, Deep River Rosemary and Olive Oil Chips…

You get the idea.
