So yesterday a friend who shall remain nameless came over to out lunch table and asked “Guys, where is the Great Room?” I said, “You’re in it.” She is a junior. Which makes me think that I need to review the optimal seating locations in Blanchard. Where You Sit Says A Lot About You. Standard: The Great Room, the giant room set up cafeteria style. “I’m just casually hanging.” Also home to the table-floaters, who can’t commit to one group. Half booths in Great Room: “I snagged an exceptional table. If there was a ‘popular’ group at Mt. Holyoke, it would be me.” and “I’m limited edition, bitches.” The Justin Bieber “I’m ruling the world.” graphic is dedicated to them. Booths by the TV or at the side entrance: They can accommodate lots of people. “I’m on the Lax team, and we roll in a pack. Call Me, Maybe.” High Tables/Bar Stools opposite the Trash Area: “I need to do some gossiping.” “I need to cry on the phone.” and “I need to hang out with the chefs while doing both of the above.” Hidden Tables in the Great Room (Under the Staircase): “I want to tell a secret, specifically in the clandestine shadows of a staircase.” Uncommon Grounds Tables: “I’m behind on homework.” or “My lunch date abandon me.” The Look Out (2nd Floor of the Great Room): “If I wasn’t pre-med, I’d totally be a spy.” and “I heart people-watching, which we all know really means people-judging.” My lunch table is a lovely place to hang out.
